Specific policies needed to develop tourism in poor areas

Community-based, responsible and adventure tourism have become popular. Developing these types of tourism in mountainous and remote areas is expected to create jobs for locals and boost growth.

Ngoi village community tourism spot is located in Ngoi Ho commune, Tan Lac district, the northern mountainous province of HoaBinh. It is a beautiful Muong ethnic minority ancient village.

Besides investing in facilities for tourism, villagers have been trained to serve them.

HoaBinh province and other northwestern provinces have huge potential for tourism development. The region has more than 32 ethnic minority groups with diversified customs. However, except for some tourism hot spots like Sa Pa, MocChau, and Mai Chau, tourism potential has not fully tapped. The revised law on tourism is expected to boost tourism development in disadvantaged areas.

Together with efforts from locals and enterprises, tourism development in impoverished areas needs suitable policies from the Government to drive growth.-VNA
