Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has asked the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) to enhance its role in the duel struggles against corruption and waste.
At a conference launching the SAV’s tasks for 2014 in Hanoi on January 22, she told the SAV to improve the auditing of economic restructuring, public investment and Government bond-funded projects.
Ngan suggested the SAV intensify auditing State-run groups, corporations and commercial banks, urging it to make draft amendments to the State Audit Law for submission to the National Assembly.
She also ordered the organisation to closely follow supervising activities by the parliament and the Government’s administration, adding that the SAV should renovate its operation and shorten auditing time.
At the conference, Deputy State Auditor General Le Minh Khai reported that through audits in 2013, the SAV recommended dealing with financial violations totalling over 16 trillion VND (761.9 million VND) and proposed investigations into 21 individuals and collectives.
It also handed over five cases showing signs of violation to investigation agencies, and provided 13 files for police and authorised agencies for probing.
In 2014, the organisation plans to carry out 186 audits and specify the responsibility of each managerial agency involved in corruption and waste cases.-VNA
