State President wraps up visit to Sri Lanka

On the morning of the same day, at the inaugural ceremony for theVietnamese Embassy headquarters in Sri Lanka, Sang affirmed that theevent vividly reflects friendly relations between Vietnam and Sri Lankaand manifests the Vietnamese State and people’s determination in furtherstrengthening and promoting cooperation with Sri Lanka bilaterally andat regional and international forums.

Sang underlinedthat it is time to lift bilateral cooperation, especially at a time whenSri Lanka has restored peace after years of civil war.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M Jayaratne said he hoped the twocountries’ relations will be further expanded and promoted in allfields.

At the new headquarters, the two leaders haveaffirmed the consistent policy of attaching importance to developingfriendship and multifaceted cooperation for the benefit of the twopeoples and prosperity of each country, contributing to peace,stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Earlier the same day, at a reception for leaders of the SriLanka-Vietnam Solidarity Movement, Sang affirmed that Vietnam attachesimportance to friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Sri Lanka aswell as supporting the Movement’s activities.

Sangalso stressed the need for more activities to popularise Vietnam’simages and its socio-economic achievements in the South Asian country.

Receiving Sri Lanka Foreign Minister Prof. GaminiLakshman Peiris, Sang spoke highly of the two countries’ relations andaffirmed that Vietnam will continue supporting Sri Lanka in its nationalreconstruction cause at present./.
