Hanoi (VNA) – A 6.5-magnitudeearthquake struck Mindoro island of the Philippines on June 15, according to theGerman Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

Meanwhile, theUS Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquakehad a magnitude of 6.2 and its focal depth was estimated at 125km.

The Philippine seismologyagency said it also recorded a 6.2-magnitude earthquake. It also warnedof aftershocks and possible damage.

Witnessessaid tremors could be felt in the capital city of Manila and adjacent provinces.

The Philippines lies along the "Pacific Ring ofFire" which is surrounded by numerous active faults and trenches on bothsides of the archipelago, so it frequently records seismic activity./.
