Quang Ngai (VNA) – A project to provide free summer lessons for students in Ly Son island district was launched at Ly Son High School in the central province of Quang Ngai on June 15.
The project is organised by ICE Vietnam, a non-profit organisation established in 2014, as part of the Yale Young Global Scholars programme.
Fifteen volunteers were selected from a total of 500 applicants from prestigious domestic and international universities. They will teach about 130 high school students in the district to expand their knowledge and help them prepare for high school exams.
The students will also participate in a project on environmental protection and receive more than 400 books.
Three scholarships worth 10 million VND (441 USD) each and two scholarships worth 5 million VND (220 USD) each will be presented to outstanding students at the end of the project.
Vo Minh Phuong, Vice Principal of the Ly Son High School, expressed his hope that the project will improve the students’ knowledge and social skills, along with helping them choose appropriate universities or colleges.-VNA
