Quang Ngai to offer subsidies for decommissioning, fisheries transition

Vessels measuring from 6 to under 12 metres in length in Quang Ngai will be eligible for support of up to 50 million VND (1,903 USD) each; those from 12 to under 15 metres up to 100 million VND; from 15 to under 20 metres up to 200 million VND; and those 20 metres and longer up to 300 million VND.

Quang Ngai province records positive progress in combating IUU fishing

Quang Ngai is home to 4,846 fishing vessels, all of which have been registered and fully updated on the VNFishbase system. Of these, all 4,748 vessels currently in operation have been granted fishing licences, accounting for 100%. Meanwhile, 98 other vessels, or about 2% of the registered fleet, remain ineligible for the issuance or renewal of licences.

Quang Ngai releases rare pangolin back into nature

Initial verification showed that the animal weighed 3.7kg and measured over 60cm. It was identified as a Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica), also known as the Javan pangolin, listed in Group IB – critically endangered and strictly protected from all commercial exploitation.

Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
