The success of the first national ethnic minority congress marks a milestone in the development of Vietnam’s nationalities, permanent deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said at the closing ceremony on May 13.
The success of the first national ethnic minority congress marks a milestone in the development of Vietnam’s nationalities, permanent deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said at the closing ceremony on May 13.

After this congress, each delegate will join their Vietnamese comrades at home and abroad to disseminate the congress’ content to uphold patriotism and national pride, and strengthen the national unity bloc, the deputy PM said.

During the two-day session, participants discussed and passed the congress’ political report to uphold democracy, social consensus, national unity, national construction and defence for the target of a wealthy people, strong country and equal, democratic and civilised society.

They also reached high unanimity on the Party and State’s consistent policy on ethnic minority and great national unity, highlighting ethnic minority people’s contributions of to the country’s achievements.

The participants adopted the congress’ letter of determination, vowing to follow Uncle Ho’s teachings which affirmed solidarity between 54 ethnic minority groups in Vietnam .

They also called for more investment and socio-economic development policies for mountainous and ethnic regions to soon narrow development gaps with other regions nationwide.

On the occasion, outstanding organisations and individuals were presented noble titles and awards of the Party and the State for their contributions to the country’s development and performance of ethnic minority task./.
