Hanoi (VNA) –
Sudan considersVietnam a model of development, according to Chairman of the TransitionalMilitary Council Abdalftah Alburhan A. Alrahman Alburhan.

He made the statement at a meeting withVietnamese Ambassador to Egypt and Sudan Tran Thanh Cong, who came to presenthis letter of credentials on January 14.

Praising Vietnam’s economic achievements, thehost said Sudan can learn a lot in various fields from the Southeast Asiancountry.

He said he hopes the Vietnamese ambassador willfulfill his missions and make active contributions to the development ofbilateral relations.

Ambassador Cong highlighted the soundtraditional relations between Vietnam and Sudan, and thanked Sudan forsupporting his country at international forums.

He said their bilateral economic partnership wasyet to be on par with their political ties. Therefore, in his position, theambassador pledged to do his utmost to develop the relations in a pragmatic andeffective manner, especially in fields of their strengths.

During his visit, the Vietnamese diplomat had aworking session with officials from Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs toreview cooperation fields that the two sides should promote.

The same day, he visited Honourary ConsulGeneral of Vietnam in Sudan Bakri Yousif Omer Osman.

Sudan established diplomatic ties with Vietnamin 1969. The two countries have signed some cooperation documents inagriculture, oil and gas, and trade./.
