In an effort to ease passenger traffic at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sitthipan said 4 auto-gates will be installed to process passengers’ passports, starting from April 11.
The Immigration Bureau will also bring in more personnel from provincial airports to assist with the airport’s security clearance. The bureau aims to process a passenger’s passport in 28 seconds, compared to an average of 45 seconds at present.
Suvarnabhumi airport Director Somchai Sawasdipol said the airport is determined to reduce the delay in passport checks. The airport, in collaboration with the Immigration Bureau, is now assigning 80-90 percent of their staff to man the counters to ensure smoother operations and services.
The Royal Thai police have also dispatched 40 police women to help passengers fill up immigration forms and documents.
