A state-level symposium was held in Dien Bien Phu city, Dien Bien province on April 25 to discuss historical values of Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954 and lessons learnt from the victory in modern days.
For veterans who joined the battle, the memories of Dien Bien Phu campaigns have deeply imprinted in their heart.
The Dien Bien Phu Campaign lasted for 56 days from March 13 to May 7. 1954 under the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap. It saw Vietnam defeating the French colonialists to put an end to their rule in Indochina in 1954.
Participants in the seminar agreed that lessons learned from the Dien Bien Phu campaign should be applied in today’s context to continue consolidating the people’s trust in the cause of national construction and defense, while winding up evil schemes of hostile forces.-VNA
