Thai jasmine rice has taken the mantle of the World’s Best Flavoured Rice for the fifth time and for the second year in a row.

The Thai government is considering the possibility of suspending sales of rice for a short time, given fluctuating rice prices, currency volatility and uncertainty over the weather.

Thailand’s exports made a four-year record decrease of nearly 9 percent in January, according to the country’s Ministry of Commerce.
