HCM City (VNA) – Ten buildings were honoured at a ceremony to award “Energy-efficient building 2015” prizes in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30.
They were chosen from 40 buildings in the final round, and included four renovated, three new and three tropical ones.
In the renovated building category, the first prize went to Nikko Hanoi hotel while the second and third prizes were presented to The Light Nha Trang hotel in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa and Metropolitan tower in Ho Chi Minh City, respectively.
As one of the first green hospitals in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Germany Friendship hospital based in Hanoi received the consolation prize for its energy-efficient conditioner system.
In the new building category, the Aeon Mall Binh Duong won the first prize. The RMIT University in Ho Chi Minh City came second and the Royal Ha Long hotel in the northern province of Quang Ninh finished third.
The winning tropical buildings are all located in Phan Thiet city, the central province of Binh Thuan, including the Anantara Resort & Spa, the Mui Ne Bay Resort and Seahorse Resort & Spa with the first, second and third prizes, respectively.
Launched in 2007, the competition has so far attracted 500 buildings from 25 cities and provinces nationwide, 129 of them have been honoured.
