Construction started on July 5 for an extension of the Thac Mo hydro-electric power plant in the southeastern province of Binh Phuoc, which will raise the plant’s capacity to 225MW.
The project has a total investment of 1.588 trillion VND (75.6 million USD), 85 percent of which is funded by Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA) and the remaining comes from the investor – the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).
When completed after 36 months of construction, the plant will help ensure electricity supply for the southern region. It is scheduled to be completed in 36 months.
Addressing the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai thanked the Japanese Government for providing loans for the project. He requested the investor and contractors to ensure construction progress and quality as well as working safety, so that the plant can be put into operation on schedule.-VNA
