Thai Defence Forces Chief visits Vietnam

Vietnam and Thailand have agreed to boost cooperation in search and rescue manoeuvres, joint sea patrols, exchange of delegations and experience in logistics, as well as coordination within the framework of defence cooperation among ASEAN member countries.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Lt. Gen. Do Ba Ty and the visiting Commander of the Defence Forces of the Royal Thai Army General Songkitti Jaggabatara in Hanoi on August 2.

The two sides informed each other about their respective country’s economic, socio-political, defence and security situation and discussed issues of mutual concern, contributing to enhancing solidarity and mutual understanding between the two peoples and armed forces.

General Songkitti and his entourage, paid a courtesy visit to Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh the same day.

The Thai visitors will wrap up their three-day official visit to Vietnam on August 3./.
