The Thai Government and Muslim separatists agreed to conduct the second round of their peace talks on April 29, according to the Joint Working Group Peace Dialogue Process (IWG-PDP).
The consensus was reached between representatives of the Thai Government and the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) southern insurgent group, at the first round of their peace talks in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia , on March 28.
During the one-day talks, the two sides discussed ways to resolve violent incidents and restore peace in the southern Thailand, where violence has occurred nearly every day since the insurgency erupted in 2004, leading the death of more than 5.000 people to date.
Earlier, on February 28, the Thai government, for the first time, inked an agreement to start peace talks with BRN, which is one of the groups held responsible for the violence in Thailand.-VNA
