Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand’s administration on November 22 announced 358 million USD in cash handouts for poor people in the country.
Those earning under 30,000 THB (845 USD) a year will receive a 3,000 THB one-time handout while those earning between 30-100,000 THB will be given 1,500 THB, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha told the press.
Farmers are not included in the latest handout, he added.
The money will be distributed next month, Prayut said, describing the move as a measure to help low-income earners and a stimulus to the economy.
Earlier this month, the junta approved a rescue package of at least 1.3 billion USD to assist farmers who agree to delay selling their rice to avoid a glut.-VNA
