Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – The Royal Thai Government has sent representatives to the United Nations to inform the latter of the current political situation in the country.
Prime Minister and head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said the Thai representatives had travelled to the United Nations to clarify his stance on the country’s political transition.
The United Nations was informed of the upcoming public referendum scheduled for August 7, the draft constitution, and the general election which will take place next year.
The PM took the occasion to congratulate Kazakhstan on being chosen at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and thanked the countries that had voted for Thailand.
Thailand’s campaign for the seat was aimed primarily at fostering tighter relations with all countries, especially in trade, investment and cultural exchanges, he said.-VNA
