Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand's astronomical research institute has held a lunar observation workshop in preparation for Ramadan.

The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand at the observatory in Songkhla has collaborated with the Songkhla Central Mosque to hold the workshop.

Activities include a lecture on lunar observation practices to determine the beginning of Ramadan.

Director of the Sheikhul Islam Office, Kampee Distakorn invited Muslims across the country to observe the moon on May 15 and notify their observations to their local Sheikhul Islam offices.

The head office will then gather the findings and expects to reach a decision at around 7 pm the same day. If no moon is observed, the beginning of Ramadan will be postponed to the following day.-VNA
