Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Deputy PrimeMinister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan has admitted that the IslamicState (IS) may be trying to establish a cell in the country.

He said like in other countries, IS might try toset up a cell in Thailand but his country can prevent that and defend itself.

His statement came after Malaysia reported thatfour IS members, suspected of planning attacks on non-Muslim places ofworships, had fled to the south of Thailand. Three of them are Malaysians andthe other is a Thai national.

Malaysian police described the four suspectedIS-linked terrorists as “dangerous” and capable of launching attacks that couldpose a threat to national security.-VNA
