Thailand’s Bangkok Glass defeated Japan’s Hisamitsu 3-2 to win the 2015 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship held in the northern province of Ha Nam on September 20.
With its narrow victory, the Thai squad earned the only Asian ticket to compete in the Volleyball Women’s World Championship, slated for October 2016.
The same day, China’s Zhejiang finished third after trouncing Chinese Taiwan Power 3-0.
Vietnam’s representative, the Thong tin Lien Viet Postbank, only ranked seventh.
The annual continental tournament, which kicked off on September 12 in Ha Nam province, drew nine teams from China, China’s Taiwan, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
