Bangkok (VNA) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has said that the Bang Sue Grand Station of Bangkok, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, is expected to open to public in the third quarter of 2020.

SRT acting director Worawut Mala said the construction of the station is nearly 50 percent completed. It is expected to complete before November next year and put into operation in the third quarter of 2020.

After Bang Sue Grand station is opened, all trains starting now from the current Bangkok Railway Station will be gradually transferred to Bang Sue, he added.

Covering some 300,000 sq.m, the station is a three-story building, with the first floor being the reception hall, the second being platforms for normal trains, suburban trains and the third being platforms for high-speed trains. There is also a parking lot under-group and connection with Bangkok's metro Blue Line.
