The Thai PM hailed the two countries’ plan to sign agreements on the transfer of convicted people and cooperation in the execution of criminal verdicts during Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh’s visit, which is from March 1-4.

Describing the signing of these agreements as a necessary and significant move in the two countries’ security cooperation, he also suggested the expansion of these ties to other fields, especially to those related to natural calamities and human trafficking.

At the reception, PM Abhisit highlighted the close and sincere relationship between Thailand and Vietnam , which he said contributed to raising Southeast Asia ’s position and importance in the international arena.

He said his government will hold a joint meeting with the Vietnamese cabinet and will continue to encourage Thai businesses to increase investment in Vietnam .

The Thai PM also expressed hope that Vietnam will perform its ASEAN Chair this year successfully.

Minister Anh praised the Thai Government’s warm welcome given to the Vietnamese delegation during this visit and affirmed that the Vietnamese Government pays special attention to the promotion of ties with Thailand.

He said this visit is part of Vietnam ’s efforts to bolster the relationship and all-sided cooperation with Thailand .

According to Minister Anh, the Vietnamese officers will have meetings and working sessions with Suthep Thaugsuban, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs; Veerachai Virameteekul, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office; Chaovarat Chanvirakul, Minister of Interior; Thawil Pliensri, Secretary General of the National Security Council; Prateep Tansprasert, acting chief of the National Royal Police; and other senior government officials./.
