Thailand, Laos discuss rules for cross-border health products

Public health authorities in Thailand's Nong Khai and Laos's Vientiane have discussed a joint measure to regulate the import and export of health products and supplements in shared border areas.

Nong Khai (VNA/NNT) - Public health authorities in Thailand's Nong Khaiand Laos's Vientiane have discussed a joint measure to regulate the import andexport of health products and supplements in shared border areas. 

Deputyhead of Nong Khai Provincial Public Health Office Rachen Pichetpan and hisVientiane counterpart Ampoy Sihawong co-chaired the project implementedbetween Nong Khai and Vientiane. 

TheMinistry of Public Health is implementing the strategic plan to controlthe import of food and drugs through customs checkpoints as a singlewindow connecting the relevant agencies together, and promoting thedevelopment of testing mechanisms with the neighbouring countries. 

Localagencies in border areas near Thailand-Laos friendship bridge, as wellas working units in both Nong Khai and Vientiane, are responsible forthe import and export controls for the health products to ensure foodand drugs safety.-VNA/NNT
