Bangkok (VNA) - About 10,000 policemen will be posted at various spots to ensure safety for ASEAN leaders who will attend the 34th ASEAN Summit in Bangkok on June 22-23, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of national security affairs Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan said on June 17.
Deputy National Police Commissioner General Pol. Gen. Srivara Ransibrahmanakul confirmed that no flooding or heavy traffic will happen during the Summit hours.
All related units have been instructed to take all measures to provide promptness, conveniences, safety and honour for the Summit attendees, he added.
The 34th ASEAN Summit will take place on June 22-23 under the chair of Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
ASEAN leaders are expected to discuss numerous issues, including the Indo-Pacific Strategy, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the situation of Myanmar’s Rakhine state.-VNA
