Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is ready to the auction of the long-awaited digital television broadcast licenses at the end of this month.
According to Thakorn Tantasith, NBTC’s secretary general, on October 9-11, the agency will meet with 33 television network operators who have bought bidding documents, in order to clarify the details of the bidding procedure.
The application period has been set for October 28-29 and the names of qualified bidders will on announced on December 2. The auction is scheduled to take place before December 14, Thakorn said.
Fierce competition is expected as bidders are aiming for a share of more the than 100 billion THB advertising revenues product owners spend on Thai television network each year.-VNA
