Thailand sets up mountain area water supply for Lao villagers

As part of an assistance package given to neighbouring countries in addition to the Thailand-Laos road development project, the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) has helped set up a tap water system for Lao villagers living in border areas.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - As part of an assistance package given to neighbouringcountries in addition to the Thailand-Laos road development project, theNeighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) hashelped set up a tap water system for Lao villagers living in border areas.

It was developed to honour His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion ofthe royal coronation.

The Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA)joined hands with the Lao World Engineering & Construction Company Ltd onthe creation of a mountain tap water system, with a 500,000 baht budget, tohelp villagers in Ban Kiew Taeng village, Chomphet district, and Luang Prabangprovince, Laos, where the people were being affected by the construction of thenew Hongsa - Ban Chiang Man Dam.

The tap water system will allow 238 villagers in 70 households to have a supplyof clean water for consumption and farming all year round, helping improvetheir quality of life. The project was initiated in honour of His Majesty theKing on the auspicious occasion of the royal coronation, and to enhance goodrelations with countries in the Great Mekong Subregion. – NNT/VNA

Vietnam calls for stronger ASEAN unity, resilience

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang urged ASEAN to make full use of existing mechanisms to enhance dialogue, build trust and prevent risks and conflicts, particularly by strengthening the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANWFZ), and cooperation based on international law.

Vietnam steps up trade, investment promotion at China-ASEAN Expo

According to the CAEXPO Secretariat, Vietnam will once again lease an entire exhibition area of about 3,000sq.m, featuring 170 booths, making it one of the ASEAN countries with the largest exhibition spaces at this year’s event. Vietnam reaffirms commitment to building resilient, inclusive and integrated ASEAN Labour Market

To this end, Vietnam proposed three strategic priorities for ASEAN cooperation. First, ASEAN should expand and harmonise mutual recognition mechanisms by increasing the scope and number of Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) in the region; and promote the role of the ASEAN TVET Council (ATC) in connecting national skills certification systems with regional and global standards, based on national occupational skills qualification frameworks and regional references.
