Thai police submitted an official record on the mid-August Erawan Shrine bombing and a secondary blast at the Sathorn pier to a military court on October 27.
Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) Chief Lieut. Gen. Srivara Ransibrahmanakul has handed over the almost-10,000-page case report to Chief Military Prosecutor Major-General Wittaya Poungpan-ngam.
The MPB has accused Yusufu Mierili and Bilan Muhammad of conspiracy to commit premeditated murders and to produce explosives that killed and seriously wounded others.
The suspects also face charges of causing public property damage, possessing unauthorised explosives and weapons and carrying explosives to public places without sound reason.
They have been taken into custody at a temporary detention facility of the Bangkok-based 11 th Army Circle’s Infantry Battalion.
Muhammad’s nationality has not yet been confirmed, Srivara said, adding that the police have not filed terrorism charges against the pair and continue to actively hunt other suspects in the case.
Thai authorities have issued arrest warrants for 17 suspects in the deadly bombing that killed 20 people and left over 100 others injured.
Chief among them is Abudustar Abdulrahman, also known as Izan, who left the country one day after the bombing and is likely to be the mastermind behind the attack.
Muhammad was arrested at an apartment in Nong Chok, Bangkok on August 29 while Mierili was caught in early September near the Thai-Cambodian border.-VNA
