At least two people were killed and five other wounded in a bombing in Saiburi district, Pattani, southern Thailand, on October 19.

The bomb was detonated by mobile phone as an armoured vehicle carrying police rangers passed by on October 19, according to Saiburi police. Two police rangers and five others were wounded.

Shortly afterwards another bomb was exploded a few kilometres further up the first attack. No one was reported injured, the police said.

Violent attacks have occurred in southern Thailand over the past 11 years. Since 2004, the conflict in Yaly, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla province has led to more than 6,400 deaths, mainly Buddhist and Muslim civilians.-VNA
