Hanoi (VNA) - Thailand’s customs-cleared exports dropped for a third straight month in May, down 5.79 percent from a year earlier, after contracting 2.57 percent in April, mainly due to lower shipments of cars and parts, electronics and oil, the Thai Ministry of Commerce said on June 21.
In May, its shipments to China dropped 7.2 percent year-on-year, while exports to the US climbed 7.8 percent, a ministry official said.
Meanwhile, its imports contracted 0.64 percent from a year earlier, after falling 0.72 percent in the prior month.
Contrary to the April’s 1.46 billion USD deficit, the country ran a surplus of 181.5 million USD.
