Hanoi (VNA) – Central agencies and localities across the country have completed the third consultation round, approving 1,121 eligible candidates to run for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA).
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s Presidium approved a list of 197 candidates from central organisations and agencies, while 735 other candidates were voted through at the third consultation meetings in provinces and cities.
The number of candidates for provincial and municipal People’s Councils is 6,462 people.
Provinces having high rate of NA candidates from ethnic minority groups include Lai Chau, Lang Son, Kon Tum and Lao Cai while Vinh Phuc, Quang Ngai and Ca Mau boast a high rate of women candidates.
In the meantime, Ca Mau, Quang Ngai and Kien Giang have more than 50 percent of their candidates being young .
According to the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s provincial and municipal standing boards, the meetings gathering opinions from voters on candidates have been held in a democratic and transparent manner in line with regulations.
After the third consultation meetings, agencies, organisations and localities will hold meetings between voters and candidates,right after the announcement of the official candidate list on April 27.-VNA
