Doctors from the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital have successfully performed two kidney and one liver transplants to save the lives of three patients suffering from fatal diseases.
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Online Newspaper quoted the hospital’s director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Quyet, as saying that the organs were from a donor who was a traffic accident victims, adding the transplants were successfully completed after seven hours.
He said that the hospital mobilised 120 doctors, technicians and nurses for the transplants. So far, the three patients have regained consciousness and are recovering well.
There was no heart patient compatible with the heart of the donor. Therefore, doctors only conducted three organ transplants at the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital and two cornea transplants at the National Optical Hospital.-VNA
