Thua Thien-Hue: Bunpimay greetings extended to Laos’ armed forces

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – A delegation of ThuaThien-Hue Border Guard Command on April 15 extended greetings to the armedforces and people living in the neighbouring provinces of Sekong and Salavan inLaos to mark the Bunpimay festival.

The delegation, led by Deputy Commander Colonel Dang MinhTien, visited A Dot – Ta Vang and Hong Van – Co Tai border gates whichconnect the Vietnamese central province with Sekong and Salavan, respectively,to greet the Lao border guards, police and people on their traditionalNew Year of Bunpimay.

During the visits, the two sides also exchanged informationon security and crime prevention operations along the shared border in recenttimes and discussed their cooperation in COVID-19 relief efforts.

The Vietnamese delegation took the occasion to presentnearly 50 gift packages, including necessities and medical supplies, to the Laoarmed forces and people.

Relations between Thua Thien-Hue and Laos’ Sekong andSalavan provinces as well as their border guard forces have been deepened overrecent years with good diplomatic ties and regular exchanges for informationsharing; enhanced cooperation in settling common border issues; andstrengthened mutual understanding, solidarity and friendship.

The Bunpimay festival was observed from April 13-15 thisyear to pray for good weather, health, abundant harvests and prosperity./.
