Thua Thien-Hue leveraging new int’l tourism markets

More than a year after Vietnam reopened its borders, Thua Thien-Hue’s foreign tourism market has yet to fully recover to anticipated levels. This year, however, the central province is striving to create breakthroughs in tourism by tapping new markets of potential such as China and India.

Thua Thien-Hue welcomed over 2 million visitors last year, up nearly 190% against 2021, thanks to Vietnam reopening its borders.

Its tourism sector grossed over 4.5 trillion VND (more than 190 million USD) in revenue, surpassing the annual target by 12.5%.

The central province aims to attract over 3 million visitors in 2023, nearly one-third of whom will be foreigners.

In addition to traditional markets like Thailand, Malaysia, the US, and Australia, China and India are expected to emerge as new markets in the future.

To attract new markets of potential, Thua Thien-Hue is building a plan to promote special local tourism offerings and prepare the necessary human resources and infrastructure./.
