State President Nguyen Minh Triet has expressed his hope that the Mekong delta province of Tien Giang will muster its internal strength to be listed among the country’s strongest developing localities.

Addressing an investment promotion conference, the largest of its kind so far, on Jan. 29, President Triet spoke of Tien Giang’s advantages in its position as a gateway for trade activities between Mekong delta provinces and HCM City.

As the province has so much potential in terms of investment, he called on local and foreign investors to focus on Tien Giang’s investment projects, which will improve the provincial traffic infrastructure considerably and assuring that investors will be welcomed with the most favourable conditions for their business activities.

The State President wished the provincial Party Committee, authorities and people even greater success in the new year.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran The Ngoc said that the province is calling a total investment capital of more than 192 trillion VND (10.6 billion USD) for 117 projects, focusing on aquaculture and seafood processing, port development and eco-tourism.

On the sidelines of the conference, seminars were held on Tien Giang’s agriculture during the integration process, the development of its industry and trade and opportunities for investment in infrastructure, housing and tourism.

On the occasion, the provincial People’s Committee granted investment licences to nine businesses and signed 14 memoranda of understanding with dozens of investors./.
