Tien Giang spends over 215 billion VND on water supply pipelines

The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has invested more than 215 billion VND (9.4 million USD) in building water supply pipelines to ensure clean water for residents of coastal districts in dry season of 2017.

Tien Giang (VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has invested more than 215billion VND (9.4 million USD) in buildingwater supply pipelines to ensure clean waterfor residents of coastal districts in dry season of 2017.

Consisting of 183 pipelines with a length of 150,000 metres, thepipeline system was designed to supply water for 7,700 households in Go CongDong, Go Cong Tay, Tan Phu Dong districts and Go Cong town, said Nguyen ThienPhap, head of the Irrigation and Flood Prevention and Control Division of theprovincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Tien Giang also mobilised all resources to provide sufficient freshwater for residents.

In addition, the Tien Giang Water Supply Company was asked to dredgeponds to increase the capacity of fresh water and reopen free water supplypoints while raising public awareness of keeping and saving water for dryseason.

As a result, no water-shortage was recorded in coastal areas in TienGiang in the 2017 dry season.-VNA
