Top leader meets Vietnamese intellectuals in US

Houston (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam met Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston city on September 22 (local time) as part of his trip to the US.

The top Vietnamese leader is in the US to attend the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), and hold working sessions in the country.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always consider overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of the nation, and lauded the Vietnamese community in the US for their contributions to the host country as well as to the bilateral ties.

The leader appreciated the dedication, vision, and tangible contributions of Vietnamese intellectuals to the homeland, and expressed his hope that they and their peers around the world will stay united and contribute more to the homeland.

On behalf of the Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston, Vu Van Le thanked the leader for his support and sentiments towards overseas Vietnamese, and affirmed that he and others remain committed to contributing their knowledge and passion for a prosperous Vietnam.

He also called on the younger generation of Vietnamese intellectuals in the US and abroad to make more contributions to their homeland.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese intellectuals donated 10,000 USD in support of those affected by typhoon Yagi at home./.
