In recent years, local people in Nam Mau commune, of Ba Be district in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan have taken advantage of community-based tourism to improve their livelihoods.

Nam Mau commune, of Ba Be district in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan, used to face difficulties in economic development due to the lack of land for production as it is located in the buffer zone of the Ba Be national park. However, in recent years, local people have taken advantage of community-based tourism to improve their livelihoods.

Pac Ngoi was the first village in Nam Mau commune to develop community-based tourism by providing a homestay service. The number of households participating in the model has now increased to 30 since its beginnings.

Apart from Pac Ngoi, another 100 households in other villages, such as Bo Lu and Coc Toc, are providing homestay services.
