Hanoi (VNA) – Toyota Vietnamlaunched made-in-Vietnam units of its Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio car modelsin the northern province of Vinh Phuc on December 28.

Director General of Toyota Vietnam HiroyukiUeda described the move as an important milestone of the carmaker in thecountry and also the affirmation of its commitment to promoting localautomobile manufacturing.

Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio madedebut in Vietnam in March 2022 as completely built units imported fromIndonesia.

Since then, they have recordedmonthly sales of over 1,000 units, reaching over 16,000 in total by theend of November. Notably, Veloz Cross has continually been among one of thebest-selling cars and topped the seven-seater ones with a market share of40.3%.

As the supply of importedvehicles is limited, the production of Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio at the manufacturingand assembly line in Vinh Phuc is a step to help the firm increase supply andthe rate of locally made components in its automobiles.

Nguyen Trung Hai, Standing ViceChairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said Toyota Vietnam has obtainedmany achievements in production and business activities, substantiallycontributing to Vietnam’s automobile industry and local socio-economicdevelopment.

Vinh Phuc recorded more than 40trillion VND (1.7 billion USD) in budget revenue in 2022, including over 10trillion VND contributed by Toyota – up 9% from last year, he noted, addingthat local authorities pledge the best possible conditions for the company aswell as others to develop business operations./.
