Traditional craft hardly manages to seek markets

The southern province of Binh Phuoc approved a plan to preserve the traditional brocade weaving of S’tieng ethnic group three years ago. But, most of local artisans are hardly managing to live on the trade.

Since the establishment of this cooperative to produce brocade items, local artisans still manage to live on the trade and they have failed to do this because tens of clothes haven’t been sold.

In late 2016, a workshop was set up with the participation of 32 members. To date, many of them have given up due to the lack of materials.

Project preserving the traditional brocade weaving of S’tieng ethnic group is a righteous movement, manifesting efforts to conserve the traditional values of local ethnic groups. In the coming time, local people hope that their products will be more popularised so that the craft can be alive.-VNA
