Every three years, people in Thai Duong Ha, a coastal village in Thua Thien Hue province, hold Cau Ngu Festival - an important ritual for fishermen to pray for good weather, peaceful sea, abundant fishing harvest and prosperous life for everybody.
The festival also commemorates the village’s guardian deity Truong Quy Cong, who taught the locals fishing and trading. There are many cultural activities and performances that depict the day-to-day life of the local fishermen.
The village children dress up as small fishes while adults stand in circle to symbolize the image of fish catching. After the harvest, the “fish” is presented to the deities as sacrifices or sold at the markets.
Participants and visitors can see the re-enactment of the bustling fish markets./.
