Traditional New Year festival expected to lure more visitors to Laos

Boun Pi Mai, the traditional New Year festival in Laos, will be organised on a large scale after three years of COVID-19 in order to attract tourists and recover the national economy.

Hanoi (VNA) - Boun Pi Mai, the traditionalNew Year festival in Laos, will be organised on a large scale after three yearsof COVID-19 in order to attract tourists and recover the national economy.

Vientiane capital city and other Lao localities areworking hard to prepare for the festival, to take place in mid-April. Many citiesand provinces have also outlined plans to lure domestic and foreign visitors.

In the ancient capital of Luang Prabang, one of the famoustourist destinations in the country, festive activities will last from April 11 to 20, targeting both domestic and foreign holidaymakers, according to localauthorities.

The festival is expected to help achieve the target ofserving 1.4 million international tourists set by the Lao government this year./.
