Tran Dang Ninh, the temple’s director, said that the ceremony to receive the recognition certificate will be held next month.

Tran Bien Temple of Literature is located in Buu Long Ward, Bien Hoa City, of Dong Nai.

Being built in 1715 under Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, it was the first temple of its kind in the South. It is a place to honour Confucius and also serves as an educational centre.

The site, which was destroyed by the French in 1861, was restored in 1998. It has become an important destination to tourists who want to learn more about the history of Vietnam through the stories of the national heroes and the country’s cultural personalities.-VNA
