Many countries have softened their travel advice on Thailand after thepolitical rallies in Bangkok subsided, according to the ThaiMinistry of Foreign Affairs.
Spokesman of the Thai ForeignMinistry Sek Wannamethi said there are 34 countries and two specialeconomic zones which still maintain their travel advisories for touristsvisiting Thailand . However, many of them have reduced the intensityof their travel notices by saying that the situation in Thailandhas much improved.
The spokesman added that the US Embassy inThailand and the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand havevoiced their support for the Thai government's democratic approach andopposed the protesters' occupation of government offices.
Sekpointed out that the foreign media were closely monitoring the situationin Thailand and were very much interested in thegovernment-sponsored forum between the private sector and academics tofind solutions to the country's political standoff.
According tohim, the head office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Si AyutthayaRoad, which was previously seized by anti-government protesters, and theDepartment of Consular Affairs on Chaeng Wattana Road have now resumedtheir operations. However, two other offices of the ministry locatedinside the Government Complex remain closed as the protesters are stilloccupying the premises.-VNA
