Tug-of-war heritage thrives a decade after UNESCO recognition

The tugging ritual and game form an indispensable part of many traditional festivals in Vietnam, including the Huu Chap village festival in Kinh Bac ward, Bac Ninh province. A key feature of the Huu Chap tug-of-war is the use of a bamboo trunk as the pulling rope. Despite its centuries-old history, local residents remain proud and excited, eager to become competitors in the event.
