Tuyen Quang to host first Dao ethnic group’s cultural festival

The first ever cultural festival of Dao ethnic people will take place in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang between September 29 and 30.

The event aims to preserve and uphold the cultural values of Dao ethnic group.

It is expected to draw 13 cities and provinces nationwide.

The festival will include a wide range of activities, including performances of Dao ethnic people traditional music, costumes and rituals, an exhibition on their culture and culinary, a sport competition and a seminar on preserving and upholding Dao ethnic group’s cultural values.

Dao ethnic group accounts for 11 percent of Tuyen Quang province’s population with over 77,000 people, the third largest after Kinh and Tay groups.

Tuyen Quang province is working with other provinces which Dao ethnic people are living to prepare for the event.-VNA
