Ho Chi Minh City police has arrested two Malaysians for allegedly using cloned ATM and credit cards to withdraw money and buy high-value goods.
Cheng Puising and Wong Siew Wah, both born in 1995, were caught at an ATM in Dong Khoi road, Ben Nghe district after the police received a call from the Vietcombank Card Centre about suspicious money withdrawals there. The police seized a total of 32 counterfeit cards from them.
The pair told the police that they were attempting to withdraw money from the ATM. They also confessed that they had previously bought a Louis XIII bottle of wine worth 106 million VND (5,000 USD) by a cloned credit card at a hotel in District 1.
The police suspects these people have involved in many other fraudulent card transactions in the city.
