UN training course on national planning wraps up in Hanoi

The UN training course on building a national plan for senior officers hosted by the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (VPD) closed in Hanoi on April 12.

Hanoi (VNA) – The UN training course on building a national plan for seniorofficers hosted by the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (VPD) closed in Hanoi onApril 12.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Rafael Barbieri, head of the delegation of UNexperts, said the course completed the set target and satisfied the expectationof participating officers.

He praised the effective support of the Vietnamese side for the course and participants’active learning spirit, capacity, and professionalism.

The course updated participants on important knowledge and standard practicerules in negotiating, making plans, collecting, preparing, and alternating coordinating units joining UNpeacekeeping operations.

VPD Director, Major General Hoang Kim Phung, stressed that the hosting of thecourse helps the VPD improve its capacity for organising international trainingcourses and has provided Vietnamese officers working at strategic advisory unitswith relevant knowledge.

Phungexpressed his hope that more UN training courses will be organised at the departmentin the future, saying that the knowledge provided by the course will play avital role in supporting countries sending their officers and units to UNpeacekeeping missions in the future.

The 12-day course saw the participation of 11 experts from the UN’s integratedtraining agencies as well as 30 officers from 23 member countries of the UN whoare working as supervisors and managers of countries’ plans to participate inUN peacekeeping operations.

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention.
