Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the UN Development Programme jointly held a workshop in Hanoi on December 3 to give advice to the Vietnamese Government on the building of a new growth model.
Speaking at the consultation workshop on the draft 2015 Vietnam Human Development Report, VASS Nguyen Quang Thuan stressed the importance of people’s involvement in growth and how they benefit from it.
It is necessary to have suitable methods to secure an equitable growth and make sure that no one lags behind, he added.
The report put forward the concept of ‘inclusive growth”, which emphasises both economic growth and equal distribution to reduce poverty and help all groups develop together.
Participants also proposed increasing labour productivity and ensuring better and fairer health care and education systems.
Vietnam has made great achievements on human development over the past 35 years, however, the growth has slowed down due to the global financial crisis.-VNA
