UN Population Fund’s Chief Representative in Hanoi Bruce Campbell and Vice Chief Representative Mandeep K. O’Brien were presented with insignias “For the cause of Culture, Sport and Tourism” at a ceremony in the capital city on November 9.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai valued UNFPA and the two officials’ contributions to Vietnam’s population cause, especially in supporting the building of domestic violence prevention and gender equality documents.
He said he hopes that in their new positions, Bruce Campbell and Mandeep K.O’Brien will continue to help Vietnam push up gender equality and domestic violence prevention.
Bruce Campbell said, in his new position, he will encourage UNFPA staff in Vietnam, other UN international funds and organisations to join hands to deal with domestic violence in Vietnam.-VNA
