The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) pledged to continue its cooperation with Vietnam’s National Assembly in implementing programmes on education, protection and care for Vietnamese children, the agency chief representative in Vietnam Lotta Sylwander has said.
At a reception by National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong in Hanoi on October 29, the official applauded Vietnam ’s determination in addressing children-related issues, saying that the country has recorded encouraging achievements in the protection of children rights and benefits.
Highly valuing UNICEF’s assistance in the past years, Vice Chairwoman Phong said that the agency has served as a bridge for Vietnam to access international experience in the field.
She expressed her hope that the agency will continue helping the country effectively implement projects within the cooperation framework between Vietnam and UNICEF in the 2012-2016 period, focusing on perfecting legal documents and improving competence for agencies in supervising the protection and implementation of child protection./.VNA
